What Colours Can Fibreglass Pools Be?
Choosing a colour is one of the exciting choices you get to make when purchasing a new swimming pool. When you install a pool with us here at Barrier Reef Pools, you have plenty of options to choose from. Here is what you should be considering when deciding on the perfect colour for your fibreglass pool to ensure you are entirely happy with it today and well into the future.
The overall aesthetic you are trying to achieve
When choosing the colour of your inground fibreglass swimming pools, you should be thinking more than just about the colour itself and what you like. You should consider the look of the entire backyard and what colours will complement your style and the interior and exterior of your home. This will help you create cohesion and well thought out design. An example of this would be if you had a contemporary home that features dark colours and moody undertones, a darker pool colour would compliment this better than a light coloured one. You should also consider the plants and greenery you will have around or near your pool.
A great way of working out which colour is best is by making up a vision board with elements you want to incorporate into the space. You can see what the colours and textures look like when paired together and whether you want to make any alterations or not. This is much more effective than trying to envision it in your head and thinking you know what you want only to have it installed, and it doesn’t look how you had hoped. Once it is in the ground it’s very expensive to change, unfortunately. Do the research and planning beforehand so you can avoid being in this situation. By having a clear vision of how you want the space to look and feel, as well as the theme you are trying to create, can help you achieve a pool area that is enticing and captivating, and it prevents any confusion when it comes to the design. Rather than having mix-matched elements that do not make sense, you can create flow and unity.
Regardless of whether you know exactly what you’re after or you’re still unsure, our team can help with the decision making process by offering friendly advice based on their expertise, which is helping people find the perfect colour pool for their home.
How much sun or shade the pool will get
The colour of your pool will greatly affect how warm or cool it gets, and while it may seem like an insignificant detail, if you live in a location with a very warm or very cool climate, it can make the biggest of differences to the comfortability of the water. Darker pools will attract more warmth than lighter coloured ones, and if you are in a hot climate a dark pool may get too hot in the summertime if it’s in full sun all day. The same applies when installing a lighter coloured pool that is in full shade for most of the day and is in a cooler climate. It’s not going to get much warmth if any from the sun and will remain cold during the day.

Our colour series
Royal Blue Shimmer
Royal Blue Shimmer is one of our darkest blue colours and produces a deep yet enticing water colour. It’s reminiscent of the depths of the ocean.
Ocean Shimmer
Ocean Shimmer is slightly lighter than Royal Blue Shimmer yet is quite similar in terms of colour. It glimmers in the sunlight and features a navy blue base with lighter blue speckles throughout.
Pacific Shimmer
Pacific Shimmer is lighter again and is a mid-range blue tone. This colour is popular for those finishing the pool area with touches of sandstone or timber.
Indigo Shimmer
Indigo Shimmer is a light, clean blue colour. It’s similar to a sky blue and has hues of white and silvers scattered throughout.
Sandstone Shimmer
Sandstone Shimmer is a sand/beige colour yet once filled with water, it transforms into an ocean-like colour.
Alpine White Shimmer
Alpine White Shimmer is white when empty and transforms the water into a crisp light blue colour.
Royal Jade Shimmer
Royal Jade Shimmer is a deep teal colour that has a naturally calming effect to it.
Electric Grey Shimmer
Electric Grey Shimmer is in a class of its own and isn’t your typical blue pool colour. Featuring a mid-range grey base with hints of teal. When the sunlight hits it, it is a mix between aqua and grey.
Midnight Shimmer
Midnight Shimmer is the darkest blue colour we offer and is a mix between blue and black. This deeper colour is great for cooler climates and smaller pools and spas as it can create an illusion of depth.
